8 Creative Ways to Celebrate Easter at Home

Easter Sunday is just 5 days away, taking place on April 12th this year. Your Easter plans might have changed, but that doesn't mean you can't spend time with your loved ones. Read on for some inventive ways to bring your Easter celebration indoors.

1. Why not organize a virtual Easter lunch, or dinner, with your family and friends and keep the tradition going? Work out a time that works for everyone. Enjoy your homemade means together (more on that below), or support a local restaurant and get your Easter meal delivered.

2. Shake things up and create Easter-inspired cocktails. Nothing says Easter like the spiced goodness of a Hot Cross Bun, so why not turn it into a cocktail? If those were never your go-to, check out these other recipes recreating Easter favorites; Creme Egg, Mini Egg Martini, Golden Goose and Easter Bunny.

3. With a new, but temporary normal in place, attending Easter church service in person isn't possible this year. Luckily, many New York City churches are offering live streaming of services for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Preview St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grace Church or Times Square Church for a few alternate options.

4. Is it even Easter without decorating an egg? For some decorative inspiration, use this list, or switch things by sketching and drawing out your own designs.

5. Bring back childhood memories and organize an Easter egg hunt inside or in your backyard. Being indoors doesn't mean you have to miss out on this fun tradition. If you live alone, you can still do it virtually with loved ones, and see if they can find them while you move around the home. If hiding candies and chocolates aren't for you, have a look at these fun alternatives.

6. Why not bake and decorate sugar cookies. Turn it into a fun game, with a little creative competition. If you don't have any cookie cutters at hand, take a look at these easy substitutions.

7. Get the whole family together to cook a meal. With restaurant reservations not being an option at the moment, it doesn't mean you can't have a nice dinner at home. Create a menu inspired by everyone's favorite dish and spend quality time whipping it up in the kitchen. Here are some tasty ideas for Easter desserts to pair with your home-cooked meal.

8. A great movie day never hurt. Get into the spirit and watch Easter inspired movies. Not sure which ones would fall under the category? Check off this list for some ideas.

Here's to keeping traditions going, and creating new memories!
